  • I have a Pro-94. I listen to San Diego PD a lot on the trunking system. Can this scanner label a talk group by it's ID number? Around here, talk group 1456 is eastern division. Can i make it it say "Eastern Dispatch" when that talk group is activated? i hate having to see what number i am listening to, then go look it up on a sheet of paper just to find out what division i am listening to.

  • @SDPaintball27 i have never setup the trunking function on the scanner so i do not know if you can label sub categories.

you can name the bank and you can name all the channels in the bank. that is about all the further i have gone into it. turn the ctcss on and you can sometimes narrow it down when listening on a channel. when a different person talks the ctcss changes numbers

  • i had a scanner that would alert you when a highway patrol is within 3 miles from you. a loud beeping noise with a bright red light.

  • @bradmann85 uniden bearcat. i never did like those scanners. they were too slow scanning through the banks. i put my pro 97 side by side with a newer bearcat and mine triggured at least a second before the bearcat every time

  • I have the same PRO 2050 model, but I only use the BNC Antenna connector. Do you know what size I need for the telescopic screw-in antenna? Any information will be useful.

  • @ucvgabe8467 the radioshack telescoping antenna for cordless phones is the one to use with that scanner.

a J pole connected through the bnc is the best antenna to use on this. it can be indoors or outside. there are J pole calculators on the internet. enter the mhz you listen to the most and hit enter. then build it out of metal with all the same measurements on the calculator

  • @fordbroncodave the main thing i didnt like about it that it didnt have the number key. i dont have it anymore. i ended up loosing it. i do have a pro433 and a realistic pro 2005 both i mainly use. i have three other backups. a pro 2052 i use for picking up the noaa weather satellite, an old bearcat bc248clt. this scanner dosnt scan the whole spectrum. only scans what you have in its memory (major down slide). and a bearcat sportcat 900mhz ive had for a few years. as long as they work. its good

  • @xqrz499 it is a pro 97, the one you have has a signal strength meter built in. they are identical aside from the strength meter for signal strength. very well built scanner. mine is still running strong with the same radioshack rechargeable batteries

  • Are you sure your hand held isn't a Pro-164? I just bought the 164 from RadioShack yesterday and the hand held you show looks 'exactly' like it...every button is the same. Everything is the same. You mentioned it being a Pro-97.

  • LOL someone is still and always will be a lonely virgin.
