Southampton Vintage Bus Running Day 09/09/07

Here is a video I shot today of some vintage buses which were running between Shirley and City Centre here in Southampton, buses involved with the event were 4 AEC Regents, 2 Arab
Guys one FTR 511 which is built in 1949 and the other LOW 217 built in 1954 also a couple of Atlanteans. I took some interior shots of an AEC Regent and Arab Guy LOW 217, hope you enjoy the video like I enjoyed the rides.

Thank you very much for your comment much appreciated, myself and friend had a very good day traveling about on the different buses between Southampton City Centre and Shirley. It was nice to see them

up and down Shirley High St brought back good memories to me.

I used to live in Shirley,Southampton in the 1950's.The Regent cinema became the first supermarket.The cake shop sold the most delicious butter cookies.

The first AEC Regent V, SCT no.353(373 FCR), has an AEC AV590 engine and the second AEC Regent V, SCT no.401(KOW 909F), has the larger AEC AV690 engine.

According to an advert in the latest 'Buses' magazine, there is a Southampton running day, covering circular routes 4 and 6, being held on 14th September 2008.

Incidently, I travelled in Southampton City Transport AEC Regent V no.402(KOW 910F) on route 4 (and route 2) during the Solent Transport Trust's Southampton running day held on 18th October 1992. Such memories!
