"The siren who taught Humphrey Bogart how to whistle claims that "I always thought I had crooked eyebrows and crooked teeth. That's why I never understood why people called me a beauty." Her friends are happy to explain. "Lauren's special beauty is the reflection of her elegance, her intelligence and her invigorating will," says Barbra Streisand, who directed Bacall in The Mirror Has Two Faces. Adds Giorgio Armani, who has dressed the star for the last 15 years: "Her great appeal comes from her expressiveness, from the character that you can read on her face. And she can still seduce with just a look." Bacall prefers a different type of flattery. "Jack Benny told me I had perfect timing," she says. "That's probably the biggest compliment I've ever gotten."
"I used to tremble from nerves so badly that the only way I could hold my head steady was to lower my chin practically to my chest and look up at Bogie. That was the beginning of The Look." (L.Bacall)
"Lauren Bacall was one of those movie stars who were so original and iconic that the molecular structure of the audience seemed to shift when she was on screen. Marlene Dietrich, Bette Davis, Katherine Hepburn, Greta Garbo - they too possessed an ineffable power to dominate the screen by their physical presence alone. But what made Bacall unique was that she demonstrated this authority at such a young age. She was only 19 years old when she stood toe-to-toe with the formidable Humphrey Bogart in "To Have and Have Not" (1944), director Howard Hawks' film adaptation of Ernest Hemingway's novel. Her husky voice and sultry eyes were more than a match for Bogie, both on screen and off. He would go on to marry his much younger co-star and together they began one of Hollywood's most famed personal and professional partnerships."
"As a beauty icon, the icy-eyed Bacall struck a stunning balance between girlish spunk and sultry siren. Trademarks of her look include expertly arched brows, side-swept hair with large waves, and flawless skin, which looks remarkable even now..."
"Lauren Bacalls hairstyle is a stunning example of old Hollywood glamour at its finest. Lauren Bacall is also a perfect case in point that shows when you find a hairstyle that works for you; there is never a reason to change your look if you do not want to."

Great!!! Thanks for posting this beautiful tribute to a stupendous actress, absolutely unique!
Her deep voice is so charming, and I absolutely love the songs she sings with Hoagy Carmichael in the great film To Have and Have Not : "How little we know" and "Am I blue" are real little masterpieces of jazz music!
