long beach, california, 1979. underrated punk band. considered one of the first hardcore bands.

singer died in '79 (sometime after this show, obviously). his brother replaced him not long after.

no live sound, sorry. their first record is layed over instead.

in order: "proxilin stomp", "xerox", "no compromise".

  • Wow! My sister-in-law let me know about this video. It's very emotional for me to see my little brother (David Bratton--Dave Dacron) singing. Too bad the singing's not live. We miss you Dave! ♥

  • loved his singing, and the lyrics were great. thanks for commenting! RIP Dave.

  • oh shit was i way off 79' really..anyways pretty cool band!

  • Does anyone know what year this was? I'm guessing late 80's.

  • I saw Rhino 39 play often at the Masque and had a giant crush on Dave - I even have a pic of us in an old photo book. I think I was maybe 15? I remember someone from Long Beach (Tina? I can't remember who it was...) telling me he had just died, and that he had been in hospital and I couldn't believe she didn't try to get a hold of me before he died so I could have said good-bye.

  • Everyone read this......it has to be known.....unbelievable!!!

My old bro, Lance M, just informed me a hippie band in Chicago stole Rhino 39's name. The band formed from another ripped off name, Vicious Circle and Threat, which I'm guessing is half of Minor Threat's name. What a bunch of kooks! Please send them an email and tell these metal head fools they suck and they stole a great punk band's name. here's the rip offs email address..... metal@rhino39.net

  • the song zereroxed was hardcore.

  • Bratsj - I'm sorry for your loss.

I grew up hearing Rhino 39 on Rodney on the Roq. When I finally was able to see the band at Atlantic theater in Long Beach your brother had alreay passed.

One of my favorite bands of that time.

  • fuckin' milestone!

  • 1st Dangerhouse Recoeds 45 I ever bought!!! Xerox is still my favorite track though.
