Crypt of Anastasio Somoza Debayle "Tachito" - Former Dictator of Nicaragua.

In July 1979, Somoza resigned the presidency and fled to Miami in a converted Curtiss C-46. He was denied entry to the U.S. by President Carter. He later took refuge in Paraguay, then under the dictatorship of Alfredo Stroessner. He bought a ranch and a gated house at 433 Espana in Asunción. Somoza's regime only survived him by a day, when the Sandinistas captured Managua.

Somoza was assassinated near his exile home on September 17, 1980. He was 54 years old. Somoza Debayle was ambushed by a seven-person Sandinista commando team (four men and three women). This was known as "Operation Reptile."

@kh2hbTV Just one more comment from me. Many people may not know this, but after an earthquake that killed many people in Nicaragua - especially in Managua - he stole and robbed the international aid that came from many countries to help the people of Nicaragua.

It really is an animal who would steal aid to help people after an earthquake. That was the beginning of the end for "Tachito."

@TheHarold75 Well... The National Guard under Samoza killed (executed) an innocent reporter from ABC, they also took international money and aid for the earthquake and kept it for themselves. Were the FMLN any better? Sometimes yes, sometimes no... Whatever the outcome the people of Nicaragua have the right to democratic elections (free and fair elections) who they want to be in charge of their country.

With all due respect sir, especially for that ABC reporter killed (His name was Bill Stewart), the story of him killed by the National Guard is a fallacy. I swear, by the bones of the men who lay at rest in that cemetery (that of Somoza and my uncle...his right hand man General G. Montiel who lays near him) that he was killed by Sandinistas dressed like Guards. On the video, Their uniforns, helmets and weapons do not match that of the Guards at the time. I swear by GOD and MY Family.
