@vivalaresistanc its paramount that your prepped surfaces are clean of rust and liquids, if there is any contamination the two sections may not be completely joined causing defects such as gas porosity (which is common when the material is damp) or lack of fusion

Why do you want to remove the rust before you start working on the piece of metal?

@vivalaresistanc The metal has to be clean of everything before you can weld it. That especially includes rust.

Hmmm... amazing that he can weld motorz so well, yet mysteriously forgot how to weld for this video.
I found this quite informative, but Extremely cheesily presented.

@dippidop Thanks for the feedback. It is definitely meant to be an overview of how to weld, letting the average Joe know what is involved from the equipment and safety standpoint, then giving them a quick intro to actual welding. We hope to have more in-depth episodes in the future showing different techniques.
