They recommend the power supply should match the motor, so ideally a 9v PSU @ 600-1000 mA would be preferable no, or doesn't it matter?

When operating the Skywatcher focuser and Hitecastro DC from your computer - the Skywatcher focuser receives it's power supply from the USB, does USB supply power to the Hitec also - or is the Hitec only powered by the 12v power supply cable?
