Its actually good when you keep some of the bones in because you get extra calcium in your system that way! This was on of my favorites growing up, along with some grits for breakfast

Can mackeral be substituted for the salmon? My stepmom used to fix mackeral croquettes with buttermilk biscuits for breakfast when I was growing up and I've wanted to know how to make it for YEARS.

She used 5 and even more tbsps of flour! And no hot sauce? Hell, dat ain't soul food without Tabasco, lol. Looked good tho and now I am hungry

This is a good recipe. A friend of mine uses Jiffy cornmeal mix instead of the flour but both are really good. But I follow this recipe and they turn out great every time.:-)
