Mayor April Capone Almon was invited to attend the "Army Strong Experience" June 2 - 3, 2009 in Fort Meade, Maryland because of her support for the Army. Steven J. Gluth CPT, AV facilitated this experience for the mayor. Sergeant 1st Class Mike Elliott was the soldier that Mayor April was paired with for her jump. He is an Airborne Infantryman serving as a Tandem Instructor on the Tandem Team. This is his eighth year with the Golden Knights. He is the same instructor that jumped with George H. W. Bush on his 80th birthday.
