The issue was the suspension settings used at Le Mans to cope with the combination of bumpy high speed straights (open road) and entry into the low speed chicanes on the Mulsanne from high speed. Stiff front springs were used to control the car under deceleration with soft springs at the rear to cope with the high speed bumps. This was an at track adjustment with a failure to sufficiently compensate the damping on the rear leading to the rear suspension packing down allowing air under the car.

@YoshiGreenBlue What I saw was that he tapped the little curb(Rumble strip, what I call it) at the edge of the track and that got air under the car and pushed against the flat underneath like an Airplane wing...

my theory is that the precise position of the merc in relation to the car just in front of it caused it to lose downforce as is crested the small hill and took flight
