  • @AspiringRocker729 Gotta disagree with both of those, Kollias isn't what i'd call a "great" drummer, aside from being insanely fast. I'd put Stef Broks in that middle ground between jazz and metal (Exivious), as well as Charlie Zeleny and Danny Walker. Guys who can play 16th and 32nd notes quickly are a dime a dozen...a drummer that expresses a truly unique idea in an improvisation context with a high level of facility is much more difficult to find. This is a very subjective topic though!

  • @xCrumblingMirth you've seem to have forgotten Mr. Hannes Grossmann. He can hold his own against dare i say any drummer you've just named.

  • drum pads CAN sound great... if you are a monster drummer

  • @PositivelyBored Weird discussion. Jazz comes from America, everyone knows that. It's not like it's up for debate!

Yes, it is the product of a mixture of older European (not "Eastern", which btw would refer to Asian) and African traditions brought to the US. Yes it did later spread to the Carribeans and other regions of the world, mix with other genres etc. Yes many Jazz musicians did spent time in Paris. But Jazz was born in America. Same way that D&B is originally a British thing.

  • @xCrumblingMirth This is because it's rare to see George do anything other than blasts, because Nile's music doesn't call for anything else. He can play tons of other crap amazingly as well :D.

Come on, a technical death metal song doesn't sound right at all with a shuffle or a swing, it NEEDS a blast, just like a jazz tune calls for a swing instead of blasts :D

  • let me speed that up, to way past 156
