(From rushlimbaugh.com):
The incredible and unstoppable success of Rush Limbaugh the Television Show shocked the critics, disgusted the First Amendment-for-me-but-not-for-thee crowd on the left, and proved that the so-called experts don't know what they're talking about. The natural human yearning to hear all the facts shouldn't have surprised them. It should have led them to take a long look in the mirror and ask: What news does Rush provide that we don't?
The Founding Fathers wanted the press to be a watchdog on people in power, which is why they enshrined the media's rights in the Constitution. But when the mainstream press stopped reporting honestly and accurately about liberals in power, Rush stepped in to do the job for them. Such was the case on his television program of October 19, 1995, when Bill Clinton made the following blockbuster announcement to a bunch of Democrat fat cats:
"Probably people in this room still mad at me at that budget because you think I raised your taxes too much. Well, it might surprise you to know that I think I raised them too much, too."
Now, considering the political landscape at the time, you'd have thought this would be news, right? Wrong. The mainstream press didn't report on the president's comment at all. Rush found the story in what the dominant media culture derisively refer to as the "ultra-conservative" or "right-wing" Washington Times. Just imagine if this was Ronald Reagan saying he cut taxes "too much," or George W. Bush saying the same thing today. You can guarantee that would be reported.
And yet, on this amazing and welcomed revelation by Bill Clinton, admitting he hiked the taxes on Social Security recipients and hard-working Americans too much, there was universal silence. Universal, that is, except for one program on the air, hosted by a harmless, lovable little fuzzball who to this day does the job the mainstream press used to do.
@zzzak123 Encouraged, hopeful. Hope to get the Dems out of Congress before they do any more damage. As of 12/14/10 there is a massive 1,950 page spending bill to be voted on.
