Without a doubt one of the best performers to come out of live TV, Gisele MacKenzie, is seen here performing the Elvis Presley hit "Heartbreak Hotel" on Your Hit Parade. Done up in a haunted house type skit, and looking very much like a pilot for the later TV sensation, The Adams Family, Gisele displays her fine flares for singing and comedy!

  • I wonder if Elvis saw that...

  • My guess is that he did. I've read in a couple places that Elvis tuned in Gisele and company to see where his recordings placed that week and how the show treated the songs.

  • Definitely inspired by Charles Addams' goth cartoons which were in the New Yorker, and predated "The Addams Family" on televison by eight years.

  • Makes sense, since Gisele and the Your Hit Parade gang did the show live on NBC from New York City.

  • Thanks for posting this gem! Younger viewers may not realize that YHP had to contend with the same songs for many, many weeks at a time, and their writers were constantly stretching to come up with new and different treatments for songs that were sometimes featured for 8-12 weeks! BTW if anyone knows where one could obtain the complete show from which this video was pulled, please post!

  • YHP had a hard time handling rock and roll. That's really what killed it.

  • Ha,Ha,Ha,Ha,Ha,

  • Now, Julia Meade pitching Richard Hudnut's beauty products on "YOUR HIT PARADE"...THAT was frightening!! ;)
