This is the 1st hour of the Sat 14 May 2011 espisode of Coast To Coast AM: http://www.CoastToCoastam.com -and the audio was recorded off the air by Youtube user: MrSuperPotatoTomato
http://www.youtube.com/user/MrSuperpotatotomato

It is believed that this show is not posted in violation of copyright, based on a close scrutiny of the 'Copyright' link on Coast To Coast's website:
http://www.premiereinteractive.com/legal/#trademark which says in relevant part that I "may not, and agree that you will not, reproduce...products obtained from or through this Clear Channel Website, in whole or in part, without the express written permission of Clear Channel."

Since this was obtained off air (you can hear the sound quality of this file -and also another file from this user -which has the radio station's FCC id, etc.), then it seems exempt.

Furthermore, it is only a small part of the whole, and it's believed this is covered by Fair Use.

Lastly, since many others are posting much more than this small snippet, it seems that it is OK.

Anyhow, here is what the show details:

The College Conspiracy - Sat 14 May 2011

Comments: I normally don't buy into consipracies, but this one qualifies.

In the first hour, Gerard Adams, president of the National Inflation
Association, talked about how going to college might be a huge scam and
how Universities are stealing your money. He contended that government
loans to college students have resulted in generations of graduates
being both deeply in debt and having their degree devalued by the sheer
number of people who can now afford to get a higher education.
Additionally, Adams said that colleges are inflating grades for their
students in order to keep them in school and, thus, continuing to pay
tuition. In order to solve these issues, he called for the government to
"get out of the education industry" and allow the free market to regulate
the loans given to prospective students. This, he said, would help
decrease tuition costs and improve the quality of education at universities,
since they would have to compete with emerging outlets like online schools.

  • Not all college degrees are "worthless". People who get degrees in the sciences get good jobs and there are shortages of these people. From biotech to computer programming, there are a lot of degrees that will pay for themselves in short order. THere are worthless degrees and that is what you want to avoid. Community colleges are a great way to get started. On-line for profit schools are FAR more costly then traditional schools.

  • @christo930 -Huh? online schools cost *more*? THAT seems whack!

  • @AtheosRecords -- I actually do not recall seeing your post about the rep saying you were untalented, so it does indeed seem like a funny coincidence here. (And, since I get email notification, I think I would not have missed a single post.!) -- Several funny (unexplained) coincidences have happened to me of recent, one case being a friend calling me on a subject (student loan bankruptcy) right as I was pulling out of my yard to visit my congressman -on that same subject. Freaky!

  • @AtheosRecords --- I really agree with you on a 'common sense' level, and think this may work for some people, but honestly, even if you're qualified, MANY, many places just won't hire you without that sheepskin -- LOL -- too many to make it worth the risk of not going. --- Now, I would not want to work for some jerk that can't see past the lack of a degree, but really... in this hard economy, we don't much have a choice: It's either get the degree & job or be unemployed. Argh!!

  • @AtheosRecords That sounds like good advice, but not everyone is interested in these fields -nor is everyone *talented* in these fields, but GOD Almighty gave EVERYBODY *some* talents --probably more than each of us realize! -- There is no 'inferior' race of people (Red Indians, Yellow Asians, Black Africans, and White Caucasians, etc.) --there are just different people. --- Same applies to jobs as well as other areas of life.

  • @GordonWayneWatts The worst part is that it isn't just Mr/Mrs taxpayer, it's anyone who holds US dollars or US dollar denominated assets, regardless of where they are or what citizenship they hold. As far as foreign govs and foreign central banks are concerned, I hope they get ripped off the most. What is ultimately going to happen is they are going to be reimbursed 100% (no haircut) while the US citizens get shafted.

  • @christo930 u got that right: These colleges (probably both private AND public) wouldn't exist --at least as we know them now, if it weren't for a rich sugar-daddy named, Uncle Sam aka "Mr./Mrs. Taxpayer."

  • @christo930 You're right --since government loans & grants are available, the tuition goes up in response to *their* availability --*not* as a result of the market pressures. LOL - Government GET OUT of the Free Market!!

  • @GordonWayneWatts There are a lot of capital costs upfront and a lot of operating expenses. Then there is the fact that nearly all of the on-line universities are private, for profit schools. I think the tuition should be driven by the market and that gov co-signed loans are a bad thing, but for profit schools suck and I don't support them. They wouldn't exist without the loans.

  • @GordonWayneWatts The guy who shone light on their pump and dump scheme, Peter Schiff, has been talking about College tuition being the govs fault for a long time and they parrot Schiff continuously.

I watched their "documentary" and it's trash. Over-produced, melodramatic and all over the place.

  • @christo930 - OK, now I've not only learned what a pump-N-dump scheme is, but I've heard from 2 sources, one I know to be credible, and the other who seems credible -- that these guys are at the least probably dishonest schemers .. but that does not preclude the possibility that their Gerard's claims about the College Conspiracy to interfere in the free market (to drive up tuition) is a false claim --in fact, that is a true claim. -- If they're bad actors / bad eggs, they crack on their own LOL.
