@1darkwingotaku McCain was considered a moderate Republican; I forget the specifics of his platforms (I wasn't interested in politics at the time, namely because I couldn't vote), but that's just what I remember hearing, and that got him a lot of support from both sides. But when the Republican party picked Palin for his vice president (he clearly didn't make the choice), who was obviously really far right wing, that's when people started making that Bush association, and he got less popular.

I'm not flaming, but I just want to know why so many people supported John Mccain. Wasn't he just doing most of the same things Bush was doing? Don't get me wrong, Obama is far from the perfect president, but I just want to know other peoples opinions.
