This song always puts a knot in my throat, and brings tears to my eyes. The mental imagery of we as children abandoning god, and as a result him forsaking us. That he's not coming back to reclaim us as his own, because of all the hate, greed, and hurt we've inflicted on our own brothers, sisters, children, planet and all the life that inhabits it -- which has made us so unworthy of his forgiveness. It's a very underrated song, but it's such a masterpiece. Bravo, George! Bravo!!!

Read my comment again, I never once spoke on behalf of, George, of his beliefs or lack thereof. I was speaking about what the song makes ME think of. I never claimed to be the spokesperson for, George, like you. However, like George I am a former Catholic and a gay liberal, so I believe my view of it might not be far from what he thought when he wrote it himself. Btw, I think perhaps you meant 'condemns' not 'condones'. Thank you for attempting to school me on the "real message" of the song tho.

Maybe YOUR god only created part of the humans that inhabit this world. You're version of god seems very limited -- guess he's not the 'all mighty' in your version. He did create Adam and Steve, and Eve. That's why he is 'The Creator' not a 'Co-Creator'. You really should do your homework, the whole notion that god didn't create gays is skewed. God didn't create unions/marriage either btw. The idea of mates committing to one another came long before religion did.

I used to believe like that too. But if being gay makes him a sinner, I am not gay, yet I am a sinner also. Jesus died for all sinners. He said on the cross, ' Forgive them Lord, for they know not what they do. ' So I try not to judge others on there sinful nature anymore. The pharisees always asked why Jesus hung with the sinners and tax collectors. His reply was that these were the sick in need of a doctor, much more than the self righteous pharisees. So what do you think ? Peace.
