Video year 7,8,9 students of Gapuwiyak CEC school and the Gapuwiyak community. Many thanks to Alfred Wunungmurra who plays keys and bass and Ron Wunungmurra and everyone that helped at Gapuwiyak community. Gapuwiyak is a mainland Australian aboriginal community located on the shore of Lake Evella near the upper reaches of the Buckingham River in the Northern Teritorry. It is 60 air km south east of Galiwin'ku and 115 air km west of Nhulunbuy
The community has an average population of around 1000 Yolŋu people. The main clans within the community are Dhalwangu, Djambarrpuyngu, Marrangu, Wagilag and Ritharrngu. Although today there are many clan groups living in Gapuwiyak, The landowners are Gapapuyngu. The main language is Djambarrpuyngu, used by many residents as a first language
Gapuwiyak is also a traditional Aboriginal community
