XBOX 360 Whisper Fan Replacement

My 360 is unplayable due to the noise it makes, games have to be turned up loud to hear them! This is a video of me replacing the fan for the "Whisper Quiet" one I recently purchased.

Thanks to all the people who pointed out the cabinet the 360 sat in was making a difference, it does.

Since making this video
- I purchased a 15 foot VGA cable to move my 360 away from the tv
- the fan noise is still bad (when compared to wii etc) but its bearable
- the fan noise DOES change when the DVD drive spins down (there was no noticeable change when the 360 was in the TV cabinet. The reason for this: the fans were louder than the DVD drive)
- my plan is to one day have the 360 is a different room altogether where its just a distant background hum (like the fridge for example)

I just installed my wisper fans and there quiet as hell and my xbox is in a cabinet like yours?

@2010ShadowMaster2011 maybe the latest model of the fans is better and you might be running your games from the hard drive? that wasn't possible when this video was made.

Did you find another fan? I just installed the whisper fan and its about twice as loud than stock fans.

@w8t2009 no I used the original fans. However I have move my 360 to another room an use a 10m HDMI cable instead, that way it doesnt matter how loud the fans get.

@georgey85 ur. Write the cabinets the problem as wel as in the cabinet its circulating the hot air back to the intake vents witch is horrible for the xbox aswell ...clearly he needs to relocate the consle

its louder becuase of the whisper fan pushes out 58% more air. the sound is not coming from the xbox but from the air pushing out of the cabinet. make a better vent for you cabinet and it will take care of the problem

I guarantee you that these fans work, however over time the inside of your xbox including your fans will accumulate dust which makes your Xbox 360 90% louder, No fan can fix that! I recommend every 6-12 months you open your 360 and clean out the dust as much as possible, This will also boost the performance of your xbox believe it or not. I recommend using a can of ultra duster or any other can of pressurized air you can find at local stores like walmart

Also copy games to your xbox so it doesn't need to spin the disc which will help it cool

Waste of money buying a whisper max fan and not have a clear case or window on your x360's case
