I wonder what happened to this reviewer guy. His reviews were awesome. Shame there isn't more.

I don't understand... are you sarcastic when you say this is the greatest movie ever made? If so, why are you seemingly saying you love the movie? If not, then why are you making fun of lots of things in the movie? I don't understand.... you think it's the greatest movie ever made or not? No, seriously - you're confusing me. :/

I love the book Starship Troopers and I absolutely hate this movie. In fact, I think it may well be my least favorite movie I've ever seen. It's does such a dishonor to the book, and is absolutely positively nothing like it.

Pretty amusing review/summation of the film. One of the most misunderstood movies of the 90's. It has more of a resemblance to the book than most people give it credit for in terms of Military analysis/satire. The cardboard cut-out characters perfectly match the people in the book, who are nothing but puppets voicing Heinlein's own militaristic beliefs throughout. The book is just a vehicle for his views but raises some interesting questions never the less. The CGI was and still is, outstanding.

@docfate "The movie is supposed to be what TEENS want the book to be, all fights, tech, and guns.. where the books message is more a coming of age story.. "
My coming of age was when I realized my "democratic republic government" - wasn't.
The film perfectly reflected that. You have to remember this film was made before 9/11 - yet it captured exactly what the United States did after 9/11. If you know something about US foreign policy, you can see how much propaganda the US uses today.

@docfate If you read the book when you were a teenager, you will miss the subtle message that is in the book. As a teenager, all I wanted to read about was the fights and tech etc.. but when I read the book as an adult, I get a whole different message, and it is MUCH more interesting story in the book that was portrayed in the movie. The movie is supposed to be what TEENS want the book to be, all fights, tech, and guns.. where the books message is more a coming of age story..

@docfate "I disagree with you 100%.. If you are looking at the movie as being the movie version of the book"
I'm not.
I've read the book when I was in my teens, it was an OK book. This film however basically sets out who the good guys and bad guys are, and as the film develops shows you that the good guys aren't good guys at all. It perfectly showed how propaganda works in modern society.
You remember 9/11 don't you. Do you remember Operation Ajax though? That's what caused 9/11.

@fuzzywzhe I disagree with you 100%.. If you are looking at the movie as being the movie version of the book, then this movie is not very good. If you want to know what the author was truly trying to say, you MUST read the book... I found the book much more interesting than the movie.. in fact I often go back and read the book every couple of months, because I like it THAT much. Do yourself a favor, before you comment again, read the book and then tell me this movie is greater than the book.
