Amnesty International calls for provision of adequate housing and non-discrimination for Dale Farm residents. They also demand a negotiated settlement with travellers that respects their rights and does not include an eviction.

  • The need to live in a caravan MUST be recognised. The health of some people depends on them living in a caravan. The eviction has to be called off. The money saved can be used for a relentless Law enforcement campaign against smuggling, theft, fraud etc. This won't affect the travellers in any way because they don't do any of those things.

  • For those of you who are unaware. It isn't just a cultural choice to live in a caravan or bender tent. The living vans of course only came into use when the roads were good enough to take them. The oldest bender tent site found by archaeologists in Ireland is 8500 to 9000 years old at Mount Sandel near Coleraine. When those who are used to this lifestyle move into houses their health suffers. I know this to be fact. It happened to me after experiencing the horrors of eviction from our own land.
