Between 1990 - 1991 a had my first experiences to create songs with the GEM WS2/II. It was the first engine where i edited sounds, sequences, arrangements, patterns etc... What can we do with a 5-track sequencer, 16-voice polyphony and a simply synthesis without filters? In 1991 i was near the limit ... but some limits also helps to make music and not lost in functions ;-)

Today already exists the originally disks from 1989-1992. So i recordet the GEM WS2/II tracks back in 2003 as wav to the computer, as a backup of the songs.

btw:
GEM WS and also GEM S2 Synthesizer have an strange fx-processor. The fx are not really stereo, they are working with a 180° phase shifting for creation a more width feeling. Listen this song in mono and wondering where the fx lost ;-)

  • Great work! I have a GEM WX2 and WX Expander myself and I still like the sound of it, even today.

  • the WS2 was the best italian workstation i know... it has a warm, shmooth sound...i like it... you don´t need 16 tracks, 5 tracks can be better ! sorry, my english isn´t very good, but i hope i´ll be understood...

  • Oh man, you really pushed the WS2II to the limit! This sounds so amazing!

    Kind regards, Ronald.
