Shows the next 9 boards in the set which feature a very large hill, and a railway valley.

  • A hill of any significance in the Netherlands? Your mad! But besides that, a rock face face really is out of place I am afraid. The region is basically all flood planes and river delta (most of the Netherlands is) so the ground is pretty much sand only.

A slope reinforced with beams or similar would be a lot more believable for somebody who knows the region.

Still, your work looks great as ever.

  • Thank you for your comments. :)

I think you are failing to consider scale in this case. A 4" rise in this scale is only a hill of 30' in height. Hardly a monster for a real feature, but quite a large feature on a terrain table. :)

  • Likewise, the cut in the hill for the railroad is similar in height and while shoring up the sides might be more realistic, the labor required would be much more involved. This set already involved over 100 man hours so I really wanted to avoid adding a much more complex finish for that area.

A quick 'walk' of the arnhem business park ( google maps) shows the area is perched on a significant hill but that it does slope down to the railroad. Again, space limits the slope for the railway pass.

  • Hm, the hills could pass for a terp (artificial hill made because of below sea level) I guess, I think I am measuring in FoW scale for some reason here I think, dont even play that, but that half centimetre (20 vs 15mm) really does matter a lot.

  • Yeah, that small difference in scale really seems to make a big difference. I have some 25mm figs kicking around here and putting them up against 28mm seems like a huge difference. :)
