The IRB 120 robot is the latest addition to ABB's new fourth-generation of robotic technology and ABBs smallest robot. Ideal for material handling and assembly applications, the new IRB 120 robot provides an agile, compact and lightweight solution with superior control and path accuracy.
This demonstration cell was created to showcase the flexibility and accuracy of the new robot. The system is able to locate randomly placed parts using vision technology and then assemble them into the camera with a positional repeatability of 0.01mm. Parts being assembled are the battery and memory card.

  • cool vid :) i am just wondering how many lines of codes / hrs to program the robot for this task ?

  • @panzerster The programming itself takes about 1 working day for an experience robot programmer who should be able to do about 50 lines of code per hour.

  • is it not possible to use just ipad and a app to control this robot.

  • When taking the SD card in and out, is the robot preo programmed for that set position and slot? What is the dimensions of the hole were slightly out ? Or is there some kind of feedback control so it can adjust position as needed ??

  • How much does this robot cost? I want to propose buy one to my school =)

  • ABB's showcase rocks!

  • All it was doing was putting in the battery and memory card. But as the guy below me said, it is veeery precise. Which is what this video was trying to show from what I can gather.

  • Wow, that is some impressively precise work it's doing.

I wonder about how much would one of these run you to buy?
