Highlights: Penguins @ Red Wings: Game 1 2009 Playoffs

10 reasons why NBC sucks:

1) They don't allow the big screen outside of the Mellon Arena
2) Pierre McGuire
3) Talking about matchups like they know what they are talking about
4) They schedule back-to-back games
5) Pierre McGuire
6) Bad camera angles - Couldn't even see players along the boards near the end when everyone was standing.
7) Their "Powerplay" camera sucks too
8) Greedy company that wants ratings from 2000 fans in Pittsburgh
9) Pierre McGuire
10) Missing play on the ice from advertisements still going on

Please, please, please. Don't watch any more NBC games at home. Go to a bar, go to a friend's party, invite a ton of people to your house to watch, or just wait for the highlights and listen on the radio.

Anyway, it seemed like a pretty evenly matched game. Lots of chances both ways. Detroit got the bounces and that was the difference. The player of the game was definitely the Detroit Boards, with 1 G and 1 A for a 2 point night.

The deciding factor for the Conn Smythe that year was that Malkin had a MONSTER series against Carolina.

True hockey fans don't make excuses. ;-) Wings won games 1 and 2 fair and square. Pens lost 3 and 4 fair and square, Wings won 5 fair and square, Pens took 6 and 7 fair and square. Wings won teh Stanley Cup in 2008 fair and square, Pens won it in 2009 fair and square.

I love how Penguins fans blame the boards for their loss, You played how many games at the Joe? Just a lame ass excuse. The boards only came into play on one goal and even then it went off of Fluerys pad.

But, last I checked, the NHL screws everything up. The Wings should be in the East, that's where their true rivals are, and their new ones. It'd be a great thing for the league, but it'll never happen. And lastly, NBC screws up everything too.

As a diehard Red Wings fan, as much as this series hurt in the end, this still was a fantastic series. However, the two weeks this series went on, almost made me ashamed to be a Wings fan. The arrogance and cockiness was unlike anything I've seen before in my life. (21 years) In a small way, the outcome was deserved for those fans. Great series, really great 2 series by these two teams. It should be the new rivalry of the league up there with Crosby and Ovechkin.
