http://www.myboxingcoach.com - A video which shows an old man punching the heavy bag! I thought that in the interest of illustration I'd do a round of work on the heavy bag. For two and a half minutes of the round, I'm working at long range. For the last 30 seconds, I step in closer to the bag and focus on short range punching/infighting. I've tried to incorporate some of our long range combinations, and have used the lay back quite a lot. I wanted to get your views as to whether you find this type of video useful. For example, would you like to see a round where body movement plays a lead role? Would you like to see a round where footwork takes precedence? Take a look at the video then carry on reading.http://www.myboxingcoach.com/heavy-bag-punching/!

  • @myboxingcoach are you right handed or left handed? I'm just starting out and I want to know which foot I should have forward most. Thx alot, great video.

  • @smzaccaria Thanks mate. I'm right handed, so that's orthodox leading with the left leg and left arm

  • very tidy and very solid, nice work......have a look at my bag videos pls...thanks

  • @TheLorie71 Checked your vid. Looking good. Nice movement and good co-ordination between the hands and feet. Have a little look at the use of your back hand. If I could offer one tip it would be to drive off the back foot more and rotate those hips. That simple adjustment will add lots of power to the shot ;0)

  • I'm sure I speak for garage warriors everywhere when I say your explanations and adherence to technique as shown in this video help correct a lot that goes awry when you don't/can't train at a proper club. Thanks!

  • @leahcimr Thank you for the comment, really glad they help.

  • GWWAANNNNN CHAP YOU ALL JUST GOT SCHOOLED

  • The sideways stance is very good for front hand punches and kicks but reduces the power from the back leg and fist, a more squared stance keeps your back hand in a more ready position to fire and also turns the jab into a left straight (or right) and also if you're too far sideways it's harder to see hooks coming say a right hook to an orthodox fighter, keep your nose on the target not the eyes, you're a bigger target yourself, but also more alert

  • @joebob2299 cool comment. Heard that before about Bruce Lee's stance. Seems to be most effective for modern amateur boxing.
