The Governor has promised Californians unprecedented government transparency and "sunshine." And yet, Positive Healthcare, a crucial lifesaving and cost-saving HIV/AIDS program serving impoverished Californians, will be terminated on March 31st without any explanation!

Please ask Governor Schwarzenegger to stop hiding, to have a heart and to take Positive Healthcare off the chopping block.

This lifesaving program has been serving low-income Californians living with HIV/AIDS for fifteen years, has saved countless lives and saved the state millions of dollars. Now this program is in danger of ending on March 31st - leaving some of the state's poorest and most vulnerable citizens without the health care they desperately need.

  • An HIV Patient is someone who has a positive HIV sample in their blood stream. An AIDS Patient is much like an HIV Patient the difference is the the T-cell CD4 count went below a certain level which is named AIDS. Someone may be classified as having AIDS but may have the same T-cell CD4 count as someone who just has HIV.

  • So people assume that an AIDS patient doesnt need medicine, they just go to a hospice or a hospital. I dont know much about AIDS so Im probably wrong about alot of this, but I know more about HIV than most people, so most people would probably be thinking the same thing I am when I think of AIDS and the prognosis and need for medicine.

  • Ok after researching this a little more, I see that its not just AIDS patients, its HIV patients as well. They need to make that more clear if they want people to jump on board. When people think of the needs an AIDS patient might need, they think of a person who is terminal with a prognosis of only 4 or 5 years (I could be wrong about this). HIV patients are living past 20 years now, so it would really help your cause to change the title to "HIV Patients" I think

  • I know a girl in Thailand who's boyfriend cheated on her with a prostitute and gave her HIV. I only know a few girls in Thailand, so this is very common if out of those few girls one of them has experienced this. With prostitution as common as it is, this situation is probably very common. I'm sure its happened to many people in California as well, though not as many. In America, everybody knows somebody who's cheated, so anybody could get HIV through sex, even if they are careful.

  • Is there an alternative program, or is this the only one in California? Is he proposing an alternative? This information should be made clear, wether or not there is an alternative or if this is the only program in California for this. Also, what kind of treatment do AIDS patients get? Im very familiar with HIV, but not AIDS. As another person said, people with AIDS are terminal, so what exactly does this program provide?

  • it's the 31st are you guys gone?

  • So really this has nothing to do with aids. this is about hiv. People with aids die. plain and simple. no amount of money is gonna save any lives if they have aids. Hiv on the other hand i can see that. They should consider renaming their organization to HIV healthcare. To be honest i wouldn't donate a dime to anything having to do with aids. Don't question the governator! and as for people who got aids through sex. serves you right. :D

  • thetalesend, if the existing program actually save the State money, then you'd be right and Arnold would be and idiot. And, Arnold being an idiot is not outside the realm of possibility. As a suggestion, I think maybe a part of the campaign should focus on how the program will ultimate save the State money.
