This is a lecture in the graduate course on risk analysis for patient safety. This lecture focuses on probability mass distributions, including Bernoulli, and Binomial. A brief introduction is made to expected value. This is part one of a two part presentation on this topic. This lecture was designed by Alemi and narrated by Buttar.

  • The expected value (mean) of a discrete random variable (a counted variable) whose probability is described by a p.m.f. (probability mass function) is not the same as the expected value of a continuous random variable (a measured variable) whose probability is described by a p.d.f. ( probability density function). The p.m.f. uses sigma notation. The p.d.f uses integral notation...at 2:23 the video uses the wrong notation. Don't post incorrect information, please.

  • 0,06 + 0,08 + 0 + 0 = 0.12 ? Did I miss something? The Expected medication error is the some of the products of the probability and their values! So it should be 0,14
