Why Earth Has a Magnetic Field

There is so much inaccuracy in this video, its hard to know where to start. For one, the metallic materials that make up the Earth's interior are heated waaaaay above the Curie Point, the maximum temperature that can sustain a magnetic field. The material, therefore, does not generate the field-- its motion does. Kids, disregard this video. In fact, disregard most information sources that graft "science education" on to a religious or political doctrine.

John held a seminar at my church several months ago here in Austin TX and made an excellent presentation. Everything made perfect sense. People are so stubborn and complex when it comes to God. They want proof and have so many questions that lead them to believe in only science when God actually is the creator of science. He created light, he created magnetic fields, he did all of this for one purpose which was to make the planet in which we live today. He know's what he's doing. God Bless Y'all

Volantix is 100% right, I hate the fact that you brought god into this video, this is just a video used to make young kids belive in god haha

"Why the earth needs to have.."
What? "Why does Earth need gravity?" So we won't fly off into space? "Why did God put Air on earth?" So we could breath. "Why did God make the sky blue?" So, it would be pretty to look at.
Grandpa John is simply trying to point out that materials in the core take on ferromagnetic properties, without getting into the mechanics of how the field is generated. For a college audience it would be appropriate to go further, but this is a program for elementary students. Your last comment indicates that you think science and faith in God are enemies. Actually the only conflict is between scientists and preachers who both make statements outside of their realm.
