Santos Dummond studied high school at Colegio Culto a Ciencia in Campinas, Sp. People say there are some hand made scratches on the roof somewhere in the school, things like his name and date. That's pretty cool! He is the man!
You are correct. I had it wrong. It was not Patek but Cartier. Thanks for correcting my mistake. The day I made the video was really a very magical day. I thought it was quite fitting that a few of his pictures showed him flying around the Eiffel Tower and that the recreations a 100 years later have the Brasilia Tower in the background. Quite fitting.
Alberto Santos-Dumont also asked his friend Louis Cartier in Paris to develop a men's wristwatch. The Cartier company still sells its "Santos" line!
In addition, I understand that there is a brand of coffee sold in Brazil bearing the name of Santos-Dumont. I enjoy watching your video and thinking of Alberto's creative genius.
Thank you for the nice video of Alberto Santos-Dumont, one of my favorite aviation pioneers. Even more important than no. 14 were his airships no. 6 and no. 9, as he was not content to simply let the wind carry him in any direction. These aircraft were true airships, though not the first, they were the first practical and fully controllable airships (lighter-than-air aircraft), which truly reflect the genius of Alberto Santos-Dumont.
