I hear dandelions attract them, but my dad keeps getting rid of them. I like to eat the leaves as well, even though they're bitter, they're nice on salads, and they're diuretic and good for the kidneys. :)

My ex was attacked by fire ants in Fountain Hills, Az. I was trying to work her and the fountain together in a photo...just kept tellin her..."no back up s'more ...lil farther...next thing I know she's screamin & doin some kind of break dancing polka=) At that point I'm just hollerin for her to "hold still"...in retrospect, I secretly wished there'd been fire rattlers instead.

The funny thing about fire ants to me is that you can stand barefooted, beside the mound, and they will go about their business, traveling to and fro across your naked toes, and never sting. It's like they don't recognize your presence. That said, if you fuck with their home, they will attack anything in the general vicinity (blades of grass, a mushroom, whatever). They're not that much different than a human society in that way, are they?
