I've heard that there is another 'law' of some sort called ACTA which is worse than either SOPA or PIPA. Many people say that sopa and pipa are in fact smokescreens to draw people's attention away from ACTA. What do the James's know about this??

@MaddJP My meaning was to elude to what our founders provided you thus addressing your "Dinosaur" comment. Hope that clarifies.
With all freedom comes responsibility. SOPA was fatally flawed and needed to die but the concern being used as a football to assault your freedom is real. Unless property (in this case intellectual property) is protected then freedom itself is under assault in another form for without an expectation of protection of your property you have not freedom.

I liked the idea of the composition called Peter The Wolf. :-)

@edstar83 true. but even if both of those fail, Monsanto will still be the overgrown corporate monstrosity it's been since the Vietnam War... I DO see solutions, and Congress might be the right avenue to take... the problem is the stranglehold on Academia and the Scientific establishment. There's too much government-sponsored incentive for political influence on all aspects of scientific research.
the science has already been done... now we need reputable sources to communicate it.

@talonspoint There is absolutely NO link between wars and SOPA. To pretend that I am not grateful for Veterans is pretentious. SOPA is everything BUT freedom, and I highly doubt that Obama and his entourage fought during WW2. For the rest you nailed it : "May we find some people in Washington who can demonstrate the wisdom to protect intellectual property rights as well as liberty."

@MaddJP The freedoms you enjoy were courtesy of the blood and treasure of men you would have referred to as dinosaurs. With age comes wisdom. May we find some people in Washington who can demonstrate the wisdom to protect intellectual property rights as well as liberty. If we don't have such leaders then lets change that beginning with the next elections.

The problem is many of those most concerned about SOPA perpetuate the very thefts that is being used to justify these draconian policies. It's time common ground is found to protect intellectual property thus taking away the argument for such liberty stealing laws.

I feel like I heard that SOPA was pulled completely by Lamar Smith. Can someone confirm this?

Has anyone seen any active effects of SOPA? The other day I was listening to Alan Watt and he mentioned some sites being affected, like not being able to connect to them or missing information. He might be mentioning some second-hand info I don't know.
Once we kill SOPA... monsanto is next!!!
