Shin Getter was first used by the original Getta Team in Super Robot Wars 4 in SNES... where Shin Getta Robo first appeared way before everything else. It's a power-up for he Getta Team for use in the game, much like Mazinkaiser was. actually. Mazinkaiser and Shin Getta seemed to have gathered a huge fanbase, so they made an AU backstory out of it. But if anyone wants to see the original story where they came from, look for them in the Super Robot Wars series.

@ConkerfanX But the original manga versions weren't moral to begin with. Hayato was basically a cartoonish supervillan in the original Getter Manga from his intro. He spent all his pre Getter days trying to find the most flamboyant and unnecessary ways to kill random politicians and take over the world.
