Its probably more accurate to say that Silat is Malaysian or Indonesian, as opposed to attributing it to being Muslim. Saying that Silat is Muslim is like saying that boxing or freestyle wrestling is a christian martial art or that Krav Maga is a Jewish one. Sure it might attract many muslims, but in that area of the world, Islam is popular, where also buddhists and hindus commonly practice Silat.

O yeah? How come? Aren't TKD, Karate, Aikido, Capoeira, Muay Thai, Kalaripayattu, Wrestling comes from traditional martial arts too?
The muslim labels coz its spread among muslims only at the very beginning of its invention ..

I am an Indonesian muslim and I know for sure that Silat predates any religion in Indonesia. It's not belong to single religion. Even here in Indonesia we never said it muslim MA.
Silat created in (now) Indonesia, in the island of Sumatera and Java centuries before the arrival of any religion. Tribal wars forced some people from Sumatera and Java to migrate. They moved to other places including peninsular SEA (now Malaysia), brought Silat with them.
Hindus of Bali also practicing Pencak Silat.
