I support any efforts to put the word out there that the Taino still have a valid contribution to the overall culture of Boriken. As to the comment that our natives did not use feathers, that is a mistaken notion. The written reports discribe head dress made of different feathers such as guaraguao (Red Tail Hawk and owl feathers,. Also our people traded with natives of the main land they had canoes that seated up to one hundred and fifty people.
The modern day aboriginals from all over the Americans wear normal clothes. I think the taparrabo thing is unnecessary. It's a nice attempt, but this is not where Tainos would be if they had been allowed to continue speaking their language and practicing their religion to this day. They would probably be more like Natives of Central America and Venezuela, that is to say, pretty typical Latin Americans :) Taino spirituality IS beautiful and people should embrace it!
This is ridiculous...tainos never wore any clothing whatsoever... except for naguas for married taino women... aditionally no taino wore feathers ever because there werent any big feathered birds or colorful birds in PR... No one wore headresses either... all the taino wore was some war paint and the cacique his guani of gold that is all...
@deadnomore123 we have been programed to think a certain way by our conquerors. They wrote our history to thier convenience. They portrayed us as animals and savages to the point that after 500years of reading and hearing that some of us subconsciously belive it and this makes some of us hate ourselfs and our own people.
Se recrea para que no se olviden !! Ya que se escribe poco de estos ceremoniales.Gracias
