@nmeyer1001 Wrong. Control is First then Speed, Control comes from Proper Mechanics.
And don't put all Dad's in the same Thought, Mental Midget.

This is a very good video on all parts. PS To all young pitchers out there with dads telling you to pitch with control first then learn speed. You have to throw hard. Control will come when your form gets better. Speed is a gift that can't be taught, you maybe the best junk pitcher in the world. if you can throw hard your junk pitch will be better. also Dads out there you can not teach bat speed just like you can't teach arm speed. Sooner or later you top out. work with that.

I know its a yr later but can you pls help. What do you mean by pitching coach tells you to stand on explosive legs...(are you standing on just 1 leg) and go all the way down. Are you doing a 1 legged squat and on the 3rd one you pitch. Please let me know. Thks.

@tarheelman1969 I hate to reply to something thats a year old but I am in the process of teaching my 12 year old and you are exactly right.Speed is great but if you dont have junk or movement with it you wont be as successfull as a slow pitcher that has movement and junk.

@mizzsoftball147 no you don't

A good tip to get more power into your pitch is to start slow in your wind up and once your hand is at the top, fire it down

i play softball n im one of the pitchers n first time the coach put me on mound i striked out 3 best hitters on the other team and i was the first one to ever do that so yea but that was last year n i was slow so ya this year im way faster but i need tto get faster =)
you can pitch 100 miles an hour, its all about the movement you may pitch fast but if you cant make them move all the batters gotta do his flick her wrist and its got so much recoil its a homerun
