Making their US debut, the wild, twelve-member Roma band Mahala Rai Banda comprises the creme de la creme of musicians from the famed Clejani and Zece Prajini Romanian villages, home of Taraf de Haidouks and Fanfare Ciocarlia respectively. Combining power and finesse, groove and virtuosity, Mahala's music is sonically located where Balkan brass meets sizzling strings for up-tempo, catchy melodies propelled along by funky brass riffs, accordion and cimbalom.
@DarbukaDave I was one of the lucky ones also. Thank You Romanian Cultural Institute of New York! What a fabulous concert. My second favorite to Mahala Rai Banda would have to be Selim Sesler. His dancing really made me laugh. I hope that they all come back again.
