This was G35 dyno day in Tampa. My sedan is mostly stock except for pop-charger and Z-Tube.

  • dude 213 is shit, something is wrong with ur car, just with intake, they dyno stock around 240whp, with all the boltons and tune around 260s.

  • not really; I have read in import tuner 2006 6sp coupes with mrev+spacer pushing 240whp, but they come stock with 298 at the engine. This was my Sedan that puts 270 at the engine. Granted it is a mustang dyno, so it is a little bit lower on numbers; but supposed to be true street hp at the wheels. A regular dyno would probably put another 10-15 hp in the final numbers. Luckily I have an 06 coupe now.

  • What year is this?

  • 2003

  • I thought infiniti had 270 hp stock.

  • They do at the flywheel. The 213hp is at the wheels. There is a loss through the drive train and especially with an automatic.

  • My '05 RevUp Sedan put down 277whp and 244wtq, that's with popcharger/ztube/mrev2/spacer and an uprev tune. It did around 245 whp stock on an accurate dyno.

  • Hehe.... Nah. The G35s is a near full second(.7) faster through the 1/4 mile versus the 1st gen sedan and only weighs 48 lbs. more. Rull of thumb is .1 second equals 100 lbs or 10 horsepower. Subtract .05(from the 48 lbs), and you can calulate that the VQ35HR makes around 50-65 more horsepower. For one car to be a near second faster through 1/4 you would need considerably more power.... ;)

  • We took our test car to the track, where it hunkered down and dashed to 60 mph in 5.2 seconds, covering the quarter-mile in 13.9 seconds at 103. Hmm, that is swell, and considerably quicker than the last G35 we tested (0 to 60 in 5.9 seconds and the quarter in 14.6 at 98 mph) as well as just a blink behind the IS350. More impressive still, our G35 tester went to the track with fewer than 250 miles on the odo. What'll it do with a proper break-in? We look forward to finding out.

  • The previous engine carried a 2006 rating of 298 horsepower and 260 pound-feet, so at a glance, this doesn't look like much of an increase, particularly with a corresponding gain at the scales. However, the old power numbers were published before the Society of Automotive Engineers instituted its new and more stringent rating system, which means the output disparity between old and new is actually bigger.

  • In addition, Nissan notes that the new engine's breathing is enhanced by a ram effect through the dual air-intake system, to the tune of three more ponies at 60 mph .

  • I googled and found this, they explain it better. Alot of cars were downrated in 2006 under the new SAE J2723 standard revisions..... Camry V6 was down 20 horsepower, as a random example. Using the pre-J2723 standard the VQ35hr would be making 320-330 horsepower

  • @trento728 2007-08 G35 weighs only 60 more lbs. than the 1st gen sedan, but actually has 40-50 more horsepower. As you may well know SAE changed how measures one horsepower, the Acura TL(for example) dropped from 270 hp to 258, Acura RL 300 to 290, etc. The 1st gen G35 would have around 250-260 horsepower tops under the new SAE ratings that the VQ35HR 2nd gen G35 abides by.

  • @trento728 2nd gen. G35 sedan weighs 100-150 lbs less versus a G37 sedan(added weight of larger engine and transmission). Car and driver weighed a G37 sedan at 3707 lbs. G37 coupe weighs about 50-100 lbs more than that. So I would rather have the lightweight 2nd gen G35 :) It's still lighter than even a first gen G35 coupe !

  • @trento728 True.... but the G35 sedan 5AT is just as fast as the G37 7AT. The G35 is about 100-120 lbs. lighter and shifts faster, and spends less of it's time just shifting about. The 2nd gen. G35 sedan was the first true G to break into the 13s. It is able to hit 60 mph in 5 flat and 1/4 mile in 13.7-13.8 @ 102 mph. The IPL poser G37 coupe needs at least 14 seconds and 5 and a half seconds to even hit 60 mph, so G37 wannabe ? I would say the G37 struggles to be as fast as the lighter 2nd gen G
