  • @Junibakken Indeed- I rub the toe myself, although I cannot claim that it has yet made me more intelligent as yet. Perhaps if I combine the toe rubbing with some fish oil!

  • @emma5977 All true, Emma ;-)

  • David Hume was a philosopher, not a Christian saint. How great that people rub the statue's toe in the hope that some wisdom will rub off on them.

  • That was quite an epitaph from Adam Smith. Hume must have been a remarkable chap.

Thank you for this video, I really enjoyed it. Please tell me that the tale of the rescue from floundering by reluctant fish wives is true!

  • Why thank you Kalgrs- I really appreciate your comments! You are, of course ,spot on. This man was a true great- and the You Tube tour merely scratches the surface. Best wishes, Neil.

  • This is one of the best and most interesting videos on YouTube. There should be more videos on David Hume. What an interesting man, he is worth more to the world than 95 percent of the human race. Great tour!

  • Thanks for your kind comments on my David Hume commentary- yes that's me with the dodgy hair cut on your screen! Do remember to page me via the "Saints and Sinners" web site should you wish a walking tour if you ever find yourself in the beautiful and historical city of Edinburgh. Best wishes, Neil.

  • An interesting and insightful tour of David Hume's Edinburgh. Way to go Neil! From Dallas, Texas.

  • Good job Neil - an interesting tour. Nice to see Edinburgh in this way almost like a behind the scenes tour.
