wilhelm kempff was a master of phrasing and of the cantabile.the melodious sound of his piano playing seems everlasting and doesnt come to an end.

I have been listening to these versions (the others posted by fyb) for many years...the original deutche grammophon vinyl lp is also available on cd i believe... ilisten to a very faithful cassette
i recorded on TD super avilyn in the car ...my old dual 1019 does the trick for the lp..like brendel as well but kempff is trumps

It is definitely a Wilhelm Kempff recording. Sound quality in the 60's was in many respects as good/better than today. Decca sound anyone ?

amazing how clear the melodic line is

Toute en retenue, légèreté : c'est aérien

@sriyash260 It sounds like a magnetic record to me.
I love you Kempff. Ohh and Horowitz is pretty good at this one too!

Take a look at the Cherkassky performance I've posted couple of days back, video recording of his concert in Japan, playing all the four impromptus, D.899. Wonderful performance as well.
Cheers!
