Electricians: not sure what types of insurance to buy? Not sure how much coverage you need? Are you over-insured? Are you under-insured? That's why Duffy Insurance made this video for YOU! First, you'll need a general liability policy. Most of your customers will require you to have this. It covers negligence, bodily injury, and property damage. We suggest a minimum of $1 million for general liability. Next you need workers compensation insurance (if you have employees working for you) to cover expenses if they're injured on the job. You may also purchase this if you're a sole proprietor. The cost for workers compensation depends on your payroll. You may also need commercial auto insurance for your business vehicles. This covers you like your personal auto insurance, and coverage is determined by the value of the vehicle(s). We suggest liability limits at least 250/500/100. If you rent or own space, you may need property insurance to cover your tools and/or commercial building. Depending on your business, you may also need a business owners policy ("BOP"), commercial umbrella coverage, and/or professional liability insurance. Massachusetts electricians: Duffy Insurance has you covered! Call 866-48-DUFFY or visit www.duffyins.com.
