Her voice is soft and plaintive, her words a slurry of apologies. For I Know My Weakness shows what happens when a woman who has been a homeless alcoholic for many years returns to the children she had abandoned. Unable to hide from her past, she is forced to contemplate her wounded life and its wake of wreckage. For I Know My Weakness explores uncharted territories that lie in the margins around us in a direct cinema documentary where the filmmaker himself is caught in the vortex of other people's nightmares.

Those damn kids seem to be raising money these days by using Kickstarter.com, so I'm doing it. too. In other words, I'm panhandling....We need help to complete this last stage of post production. The final cut of the movie is now finished, and all that remains are the technical stages of color correction and sound mixing—yet we're forging ahead and entering the film as is (without the refinements) into film festivals throughout the world. We hope to be accepted somewhere this year. I have used my own funds until now, as well as contributions from friends and family, but now it's time to ask for a little more help, assuming it's the kind of project you'd be interested in. --John Dentino
