Watching an early movie of his I never saw, Liliath, right now.
It's funny because Gene Hackman deserves the title as the hardest working man in show business, 99 Films, and despite his accolades, under-appreciated.
For generations, he has played the villain, the evil sidekick, the bumbling buffoon, the hapless good-guy, the failure and the hero. We believe him most every time, why?
Because he's a damn good actor!
Stick around Gene! Don't leave the scene. Hollywood needs you!
One of my all time favorite actors. A true legend whose work will never be duplicated. As a villain he delivers his lines so convincingly, with the perfect tone of voice, that for me his roles in The Quick and the Dead and The Unforgiven are among my most frequently replayed moments in cinematic history. Add his Best Actor Oscar as Popeye Doyle for the French Connection and his versatility is without equal..... especially now.
