He didnt steal shit! He took the thunder from the Stones and her performed it until he died. The Stones covered so many Muddy Waters song (dig their name), I am sure they were happy a idol like Otis did their song.

@millsbrothers Keith said in an interview this was how he wanted the song to sound like, the rolling stones version was only a first attempt at the song, Keith wanted to use horns and was delighted when Otis did a cover the way he wanted the song to be played.

Booker T & MGs guitarist Steve Cropper says he was scrounging for material for Otis when he decided to arrange this song for him. Otis returned to STAX from an afternoon physician appointment and read the lyrics through a few times before recording it WITHOUT EVER HEARING THE ORIGINAL!
