TCC 22 recently sat down with Freda King, the Leroy Collins Distinguished Alumni winner. Her powerful story of how education helped her rebound from addiction and poverty at age 36. While employed full-time, Freda earned her GED diploma and A.A. degree at TCC. She now works with incarcerated adults struggling with substance abuse, trauma and a lack of hope. After Freda's soldier son was killed in Afghanistan, she began an endowed scholarship at TCC in his honor.
