the real story is that johns mother had an affair behind john's fathers back when he was away on business.... and she thwarted johns fathers attempts to reconcile with her when he returned home...

This is a great example of how great of a songwriter Lennon was. The fact that he can take any life experience and make it a song. This is so sad. For those who don't know what the song is about, it's about his childhood. His father left his mother when she was pregnant, after he was born he was put in his aunt's care. When he was 16, he and his mom reunited and ended building a great mother/son relationship. His mother was struck an killed by an off duty police officer right outside their home.

He's a great artist i loved his music because he bought the feeling to the table with The Beatles, McCartney did too, well i love something about all of em, but theres just something about John and who he was for sure!
