i've only done mudding (and some building, but with pre-made bricks, etc.) must have been too much clay--the mudding did crack.
i've heard of the jar test, but still not clear on how you know if there's "too much clay" or not enough. is there a visual or more precise way, in terms of proportion?
personally, i like to go by feel rather than visuals, though. thanks for the tips on necessary texture.
