Toyota could be working on a WRC comeback. Despite rumors of them doing Le Mans with another team, it was only an partial announcement. A Japanese rally driver is supposedly doing some testing with a secret WRC test mule. Toyota has supposedly chosen the next gen Yaris for their next gen WRC car and not the Auris.
Remember this is for the new WRC regulations that take effect this year that allows for cheaper back to basics 1.6T cars built on S2000 cars.

@civicracer1989 how about building a basic rally car and just getting out there and race instead of waiting the "needle in the haystack" lottery ticket?

Toyota is still thinking about making a WRC comeback for real, but it might be with either the Auris or the Yaris. The Yaris is the most likely base car, and there will be a next generation model coming out next year, that will be perfect for a next gen WRCar. Next year will be newer cheaper WRCars with a 1.6T, and Toyota might just bite the bullet. A Yaris WRC built on the next gen model could come out as early as 2012 for several rallys, and the year after that would be a full season.
