@verbalswordsman Unfortunately it is a form of religion, the rituals of the 'Holy Royal Arch' confirm it. Occultism is still a form of religion. The Brotherhood by Stephen Knight is a fantastic book on the subject from a man with no religious denomination. They welcome people from all forms of religion into their society, and most see it as a compliment to their own belief system...that being said, there are many who leave because of the religious implication's it imposes, my Dad is one of them.

@iRob420 Oh I know the the entered apprentice ceremony well. You also have a pant leg rolled up and you show your bare breast and they place a sword to your heart. You have to knock three times and retort the words a fellow mason has told you to say. It is very much the practice of babylonian and egyptian rites. A religion not so much. They do have prayers and incantations though. So I understand why people think it is a religion. It is an occult society. Like golden dawn, oto and bohemian club.

@verbalswordsman Got it in one. In the first initiation ceremony you are dressed as a medieval heretic, with a noose around your neck. Anyone who says freemasonry isn't a religion is either a liar or not versed on the subject, and with religion comes the persecution of those outside of your religion.
