Cliffside protestors under arrest

By the time Xpress arrived on the scene, the Rutherford County Sheriff's office had already made 8 arrests at Duke Energy's Cliffside power plant construction site. In this clip, officers lead handcuffed activists to the transport vehicle. From there, they headed to the Rutherford County Jail. The Cliffside power plant protest was part of "Fossil Fools Day," organized by the international Rising Tide network to bring attention to the "root causes of climate change." Duke Energy's coal-fired Cliffside power plant will produce 800 megawatts of electricity, and it will emit some 6 million tons of carbon dioxide annually.

Sure, that was a primitive expression of malcontent. My "solution" to these issues wouldn't be to run around yelling "fuck this, fuck that" and expect to feel special. I'm currently involved in organizing a day of action against big coal put on by Rainforest Action Network, Greenpeace, and some other environmental groups. Will it magically make coal away and create a paradigm shift? Of course not, but it's a step in the right direction. I'm doing what I can to UNFUCK things up.

We all know what cops do. They protect property, not you. Of course non violent protesters were tazed and beat up a little. What do you expect? "Fuck Duke Energy and Fuck Jim Rogers" ? It doesnt sound like you want to UNFUCK anything,Drumsticksupbutt, sounds to me all you want to do is fuck shit up. And that is easy, try to UNFUCK the system because you can't fuck it up more than it already is.

You guys knew you were going to be arrested. What you did only hurt your cause, in my opinion. There are people who would stand with you on this issue if you went about it in a different way. Are you proud of getting arrested? Feel free to message me, I live in Rutherford County. "No more fossil fuels" That is a fine and just cause, but what are you going to do about it - Chain yourself to their equipment? That is not going to work. Hold up signs? That's not working either.
