A scene from Deadly Weapons: Firearms & Firepower. This video demonstrates the penetration of many common pistol cartridges such as the .45 ACP, .380 ACP, .32 ACP, .22 LR, .38, .38 Special, .38 Super, 9mm, .357 Magnum, .45 ACP, and the .44 Magnum. The tests also use different variations of the cartridges, such as Glaser Safety Slug, Hollow Point, Full Metal Jacket, and more. They are shot at water jugs covered by a piece of pine wood to simulate bones.

  • This is an excellent demonstration video. Thanks for posting.

Regarding the 32 ACP and the 380 ACP they appear to have the same effect on the water jug. The silver tip 32 had even more effect than the 380.

  • I have an old VHS copy of this video. It's one of the best of it's type. They should update it, but it's still good.

  • In your comment on the 22LR HV round shooting at 1500 fps. That 1500 fps velocity is through a 24" test barrell, NOT a 3" to 4" HANDGUN barrell. I have done my own test of "22LR vs. 25 ACP" using a Taurus PT22 and its 25ACP twin, the PT25. Same barrell leingth, same targets, same day. In EVERY TEST the 25ACP had MORE penetration. ( Although MARGINALLY so!!! )

But the point is, the 25ACP is NOT inferior to the 22LR in a PISTOL.

Would I bet my life on eather one? ABSOLUTLY NOT!!!!! lol

  • GREAT VIDEO! Awesome job! Thanks for posting this up. I think it will clear up a LOT of questions new / uninformed or new to pistol shooters may have.

I like the statement "I'm not going to reccomend one caliber over the other".

    The RESULTS speak for themselves!

    Thaks!

  • Those poor graham crackers.

The exact reason why Glaser put a ball in the nose cavity.
